Chess Trading Cards started with a simple idea: chess deserves collectibles as bold and timeless as the game itself.

For decades, the only real chess merchandise has been boards, pieces, and clocks. We set out to create something meaningfully different.

The inaugural 64-card set is conceived by chess creator and tournament player byredofantome (Matt Biancuzzo) and illustrated by New York–based artist stinmaster (Austin McDonald). Every illustration is created entirely by hand. No AI tools are used in the creation of this artwork.

Each card celebrates the moments, ideas, and personalities that make chess unforgettable. From legendary players to iconic openings and defining positions, the collection reflects the depth and culture of the game. The 64-card format is a deliberate nod to the 8×8 board.

We’re launching on Kickstarter for players, collectors, and anyone who appreciates the history, psychology, art, and competitive spirit that unfold on 64 squares.
